Becarios Universitarios FAE
Nuestro programa de Becarios Universitarios brinda a los estudiantes universitarios de la comunidad Latinx que estudian educación la oportunidad de co-enseñar junto con maestros profesionales experimentados durante 5 semanas cada verano y obtener experiencia práctica guiada adicional mientras se preparan para obtener un título o certificado de enseñanza. Los becarios adquieren experiencia en todos los aspectos del funcionamiento de una escuela y un salón de clases como miembros de nuestro personal de verano. Participan plenamente en el entrenamiento curricular y planificación del plan de estudios y en las reuniones diarias del personal.
Aproximadamente el 30% de nuestros becarios son padres con hijos dependientes y los becarios tienen entre 18-40 años de edad.
Más del 80% de los 45 becarios a los que hemos atendido desde el 2015 son la primera generación de sus familias en obtener un título universitario o un certificado de enseñanza profesional.
Desde el 2016, FAE ha ofrecido a 60 becarios la oportunidad de explorar la educación como carrera y más del 50 % trabaja actualmente en el campo de la educación o está estudiando activamente para recibir una licenciatura en educación.

Marlyn Agreda
Marlyn is a Mount Vernon High School graduate. She has served as a fellow for FAE for two years after taking the Recruiting Washington Teachers class in high school. She is from Peru and loves spending time hanging out with her sisters. She plans to attend Skagit Valley College in the fall of 2022 and transfer to Western Washington University after she earns her associates degree to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
Karina Avila
Estoy asistiendo la Universidad de Western Washington. Estoy en mi último año antes de ir a la escuela de maestría por mi certificado para hacer maestra de la secundaria. Mi familia son de Oaxaca y estoy aprendiendo en Mixteco que habla mi familia. Quiero hacer un recurso para ustedes y sus familias, yo entiendo que a veces es difícil ayudar a nuestros niños. I am attending Western Washington University. I am currently in my last year of my undergrad before I go into grad school for my teaching certificate for secondary education. My family is from Oaxaca and I am currently learning my family’s language. I understand sometimes it can be hard helping our children so please let me know how I can support you and your child. I want to be a resource for you all.
Archer Otero
Archer is a Mount Vernon High School graduate and played in the MVHS Mariachi as a clarinet. He was on the debate team for 4 years and was runner-up state champion in Speech and Debate. In the fall of 2022 he will be attending the University of Wyoming majoring in Engineering and Elementary Education. Archer served as a high school volunteer for five weeks in 2021 and was hired as a fellow for the summer of 2022. He is a triplet who likes going on adventures.
Alexis Portillo
About me: Hi, my name is Alexis and I have been working with FAE for two years now! I am from Visalia, California but grew up in Mount Vernon. I graduated from Mount Vernon High School and am continuing my education at Washington State University pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. My hope for the summer is to continue to learn and grow as a student and as a teacher.
Hola, mi nombre es Alexis y trabajo con FAE desde hace dos años! Soy de Visalia, California pero crecí en Mount Vernon. Me gradué de la Escuela Secundaria Mount Vernon y continúo mi educación en la Universidad Estatal de Washington para obtener un título en Educación Primaria. Mi esperanza para el verano es continuar aprendiendo y creciendo como estudiante y como maestra.
Adamaris Ocampo
Adamaris was born and raised in Mount Vernon, WA and is fluent in Spanish and English. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School, class of 2018. She completed her Pre Nursing Degree at Skagit Valley College, and is currently in the Nursing Program at Skagit Valley College working toward her Registered Nurse (RN) License. She plans to transfer to a University to complete a bachelors in nursing. Adamaris served as our Health Specialist in the summer of 2022.
Ranulfo Molina
Ranulfo was an FAE Fellow in 2019 and was a Fellow in the FAE Virtual Academy Pilot Program in 2020. He is currently studying to earn his Masters in education policy at the University of Washington. Ranulfo attended & graduated from Western Washington University class of 2021 and received his Bachelor’s degree.
Gloria Abarca
Gloria was a preschool teacher for FAE summer of 2021 where she built on her previous experience as a private preschool teacher in the Skagit Valley. She is currently, a special education paraprofessional in a Dual Language elementary school here in the Burlington School District.
